I just love trying to get a photo of a northern flicker taking off, the under wings are yellow. These two were poking the ground and looking around the other day. Then as they got closer they would do a head bob then a back and forth head sway. Then would look up toward the pines. One was more aggressive than the other. Their actions indicated the flicker mating dance but because both were female I think it was a mix of a territorial warning and maybe showing off for a male, maybe in the pines? Nope! Not in the pines! Flicker - Woodpecker Family Build for the future in the manner which is best for you. New rhythms and beginnings are presenting themselves. Yesterday's photo walk was exciting right off the bat. As I headed out I was at a little area of water where my brother and I used to ice skate. I always stop and scan the area. Yesterday I saw movement on the tree, it would move, then stop. Move then stop. It finally scooted up higher and I could see better. A red squirrel! Last week I took some photos of that squirrel, and when I got them on the computer it had a piece of sumac. I assumed that may be the case again. Once it got out of sight, I cropped the pictures I snapped. Oh my goodness! Squirrel Ready yourself for the future, but don’t get lost in preparations.
