As I work at my computer upstairs, there is a window that looks over the driveway to a tree. So very often the birds land right there and I'm able to capture them. This particular day I set the camera for sky shots, dashed out the back door and came around the front to find this Red Tail Hawk in the tree right next to the driveway! I stepped back out of view to reset my camera lighting, heart racing and hands shaking! I took over 200 pictures hoping one would come out because I felt I was shaking so bad with excitement that I wouldn't get a one! On September 5, 2016 (My Dad's Birthday) I saw deer out in the soy bean field. It was dusk so I had to adjust the lighting to get the shot. I was able to sneak out to the ditch line without them seeing. I snapped the first photo of them eating and they all lifted their heads and positioned their ears forward.= as if saying, "Did you hear that?" I awoke at 4:30am on February 4, 2016 to find the moon big and bright. So I grabbed my coat, hat and newly acquired Christmas present, my camera, and headed out. I snapped a few pictures to find they were blurry and unusable. I went to snap this one and a car came over the hill and down into the valley. Its headlight lighted the tree in front of me and I snapped the photo. It is a once in a lifetime shot. So very grateful.

About 2 minutes later, five baby geese came waddling out from the brush. They headed toward the road. Just imagine my husband and I trying to herd them away from the road. This Red Tail Hawk sat in the tree out beyond the field, at the edge of the second field, all day. I used my 1300mm lens. I hand hold my lenses, no tri-pod or mono-pods. I was lucky to have the convenience of seeing him from my upstairs window. So a few times during the day, I would stand and wait. He was in that tree, on that branch from 8:33am until this photo at 4:39pm. I took many, but this one was the best. Grateful to have been watching to try to capture it!
